  • Visual Thinking + Design Thinking = Innovation

I was graphic recording at an large event yesterday where one of the key themes of the day centred around design thinking and its ability to drive innovative (and sometimes unexpected) solutions in organisations. Of particular interest to me was the use of visual thinking techniques including graphic visioning, graphic recording and sketching during the design thinking process (including developing customer/client ‘personas’ and during the ideation and prototyping phases of the process). Great to see visual thinking playing a key role in helping organisations innovate via the design thinking process!!! #designthinking #visualthinking #bizitalk #communication

  • What can Graphic Recording add to my meeting or event?

    GR example Feb 2013 small

A graphic recording will tell the story of your meeting or event including themes, facts, memorable conversations and key images.

Having a graphic recording created during your meeting or event allows:

    • Facilitators/meeting leaders to:
      • use the graphic recording to summarise progress during the meeting.
      • use the graphic recording to summarise the meeting at the end of the event.
    • Participants to:
      • check their understanding during the meeting and clarify anything they may have missed.
      • use the graphic recording as an aide memoir after the event.
    • People who weren’t able to attend the event to:
      • ‘see’ the meeting as it happened using the graphic recording as a guide.
    • Everyone to:
      • use the graphic recording as a tool to stimulate discussion and debate back in the workplace (and beyond!) after the event.

  • Helping the story live after the event

Great three days in Paris graphic recording for large global organisation. Even better that all participants committed to use the graphics to share the story of their meeting with their teams around the world!!! #engagement #graphicrecording #visualthinking

  • Off to Paris we go!

Just had confirmed a three day graphic recording job in Paris for a client who wants an engaging record of the event that can be used both during and after the meeting to engage team members across the organisation. #graphicrecording #visualthinking #engagement

  • The Friday ‘Visual Thinking’ Challenge

Here’s a visual thinking challenge for you and your colleagues on a Friday afternoon:

On one side of A4 paper, you have 3 minutes to draw (using only pictures) your organisations company strategy.

Once you have completed the challenge, compare your drawing to your colleagues and discuss:

    – what analogies you’ve used and why?
    – similarities and differences between your drawings?
    – what elements of the strategy were easiest to represent in your drawing?
    – what elements of the strategy were hardest to represent in your drawing?

I think this should spark some interesting debates to end the week!!!
