SEE your BIG IDEAS with Visual Coaching

    What is Visual Coaching?

Visual coaching combines best practice coaching and visual thinking approaches to help people SEE their BIG IDEAS.

Non-directive coaching builds on the idea that a person has the right knowledge and is best placed to identify their own way forward – they simply need to be asked the right questions in the right way to help them reveal the answer that was within them all along.

Combining this non-directive coaching approach with visual thinking and literally helping a person draw out this knowledge in picture form greatly enhances this process. As an example, links between issues that have may not have been obvious by simply talking about a subject are visualised more clearly using the visual approach.

What are the results of this approach?

The combination of non-directive coaching and visual thinking results in:

    • Deeper understanding.
    • Greater clarity.
    • A clear way forward.

Who would benefit from Visual Coaching?

    • Anyone who is seeking a deeper understanding of specific subjects relating to the achievement of their personal or professional goals.

What’s included in Crackerjack’s Visual Coaching service?

    • Initial session to agree to the scope, focus and duration of the coaching support to be provided.
    • Coaching sessions to explore subjects relating to the achievement of personal or professional goals.
    • PDF version of visual output from each session for reference and inspiration!

  • How Personal Visions can increase the success of your Leadership Development programme

How Personal Visions can increase the success of your Leadership Development programme

The success of your Leadership Development programme is often dependent on helping leaders see how investing time in their development will help them progress towards their professional and life goals.

Visualising the development journey they need to take to achieve their professional and life goals and ambitions can be extremely helpful for a number of reasons including:

A Personal Vision acts as a leadership development compass…

Visualising a leaders personal vision as an image provides them with a quick reference map as they progress along their leadership development journey. It helps them see the skills they need to develop, the relationships they need to build, the decisions they need to make and the behaviours they need to grow. It acts as the leadership development compass to keep them on course.

The process of creating a Personal Vision is as important as the vision image itself!

The very act of creating their personal vision can also be as educational to your leaders as the end vision image itself. Going through the process can reveal new ideas, things they hadn’t thought about, new pathways to their goals – or even completely new leadership opportunities they hadn’t considered before!

How to integrate Personal Visions into your leadership development programme…

  • Give your people the power to draw (a.k.a. communicate more effectively)! #visualthinking #communicate #engage #teamdevelopment

Getting people and teams to communicate effectively is one of the key challenges facing organisations of all shapes and sizes.

We here at Crackerjack Visual Thinking believe that helping people to feel confident and empowered to use sketches, diagrams and drawings to communicate thoughts and ideas can create a significant cultural change in an organisation.

    yesdrawingsign

We have witnessed people having numerous ‘lightbulb’ moments which were only possible because information and ideas were shared visually (rather than the more traditional formats for sharing information including reports, bullet-point presentations etc).

That’s why we are passionate about helping people develop their drawing skills and offer a number of training workshops which we call ‘Scribble Labs™‘.

    Scribble Lab 1

Scribble Lab™ 1: Get Scribbling! is ideal for those people wanting to develop their drawing skills. We can offer this as a standalone 1 day workshop or can tailor it to your teams specific needs. Ideal as part of a team development activity.

We also offer a 1:1 coaching option if that better suits your needs.

We’ll soon be ‘revealing all’ about our busy summer here at Crackerjack! #visualthinking #communication #engagement

Hope you all had a great summer!

Whilst we’ve been able to fit a few holidays in over the summer, we’ve also been busy supporting clients  in a number of different ways. Whilst we can’t yet reveal everything we’ve been doing (client confidentiality, hence the blurred images below!), we can tell that we’ve doing lots including:

    • Creating a new interactive toolkit to help managers improve quality and care at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust. The toolkit is due to be launched in the next few days.

    • Graphic recording for number of clients including Northumbrian Water, National Trust and Oxford University Hospitals.

    • Delivering our first 1:1 Scribble Lab coaching programme for a client at EVHR Consulting.

    • Creating a rich picture detailing Solent NHS Trusts new strategic direction.

  • Great feedback for Crackerjack’s first 1:1 Scribble Lab coaching session! #visualthinking

Here’s some great feedback Crackerjack received from Sian Lloyd at EV HR Consulting following on from the first ever 1:1 Scribble Lab coaching session we ran for her:

“John’s graphic recording coaching is not only extremely valuable but also hugely enjoyable. My individual Scribble Lab session had been carefully planned to build on my abilities and with a clear direction of the goals I had said I wanted to achieve. Having this one to one attention from someone so experienced enabled me to move through my learning quickly and find answers to my many questions. A very inspiring day!”

This initial session helped Sian develop her drawing and page layout skills and will be followed up by four 1 hour on-line coaching sessions to help her develop her graphic recording technique.

  • AndPartnership ‘Leading in a Changing World’ Event #graphicrecording

It was great to work with my friends at the AndPartnership last week at their annual free seminar. This years event explored the topic of ‘Leading in a Changing World’ and featured a number of guest speakers (including Andy Cope author of ‘The Art of Briliance‘). Here are the graphic recordings I produced live during the event:

  • Can you sketch your organisations business model in 5 minutes? #businessmodel #businessmodelcanvas

Here’s a visual thinking approach to checking the logic and clarity of your organisations business model:

    1. Print off a copy (as big as possible) of @AlexOsterwalders Business Model Canvas from the Business Model Generation website. This will give you a great framework in which to visualise your thinking about your business model.

    bm canvas

    2. Use minimal words and lots of pictures to complete the canvas in a maximum of 5 minutes.

    3. Now ask yourself the following questions:

    • Did I manage to draw my business model in 5 minutes?
      • If not, why not? Is it too complex and/or does your business model lack clarity?
    • Now I’ve drawn my business model, can I see anything I’d like to change about it?
      • Could anything be done more efficiently?
      • Could anything be done by a third party more effectively?
      • Are there any opportunities I’m missing with my current business model?
    • Would other people be able to understand my business model using only this sketch?
      • If not, why not? Is it too complex and/or does your business model lack clarity?
