  • Great feedback for Crackerjack’s first 1:1 Scribble Lab coaching session! #visualthinking

Here’s some great feedback Crackerjack received from Sian Lloyd at EV HR Consulting following on from the first ever 1:1 Scribble Lab coaching session we ran for her:

“John’s graphic recording coaching is not only extremely valuable but also hugely enjoyable. My individual Scribble Lab session had been carefully planned to build on my abilities and with a clear direction of the goals I had said I wanted to achieve. Having this one to one attention from someone so experienced enabled me to move through my learning quickly and find answers to my many questions. A very inspiring day!”

This initial session helped Sian develop her drawing and page layout skills and will be followed up by four 1 hour on-line coaching sessions to help her develop her graphic recording technique.

  • Great to see graphic recording integrated into CFE Ltd post-event communications! #visualthinking #communication

It’s great to see one of Crackerjack’s graphic recordings being integrated into the post-event communications following the Fulfilling Lives event I graphically recorded last month.

  • Graphic recording of Fulfilling Lives event #visualthinking #multipleneeds

Earlier this week I graphic recorded the Fulfilling Lives Conference for CFE Ltd (one of Crackerjack’s existing clients). The event focussed on bringing together stakeholders with an interest in multiple needs (individuals who are experiencing at least two of the following: homelessness, reoffending, substance misuse and mental ill health) to share learning and reflect on the Fulfilling Lives programme and the sector more broadly.

Here’s the graphic I created during the conference:

  • Graphic recording value that keeps on giving! #visualthinking

Great to see that elements of a graphic recording Crackerjack created at last years Institute of Quarrying (IoQ) Conference are being re-used by the IoQ on their stand at this years Hillhead 2016 Event (the biggest Quarrying, Construction and Recycling event of its kind in the world).

Being able to re-use elements of a graphic recording for various purposes further increases the return on investment organisations receive from working with visual thinking partners such as Crackerjack Visual Thinking.

  • Great client feedback for Crackerjack #visualthinking

Crackerjack Visual Thinking is very pleased to be able to share this feedback received from Geraldine Walsh, President of the Institute of Asphalt Technology:

“John of Crackerjack Visual Thinking was employed by the Institute of Asphalt Technology to create both a rich picture of our new vision and a graphic recording of our 50thanniversary conference. It is evident from the quality of his work that he has a true talent not only in terms of creating the actual artwork itself but also in terms of listening, understanding and interpreting our requirements. His work is outstanding on many levels. Never before have I received such positive commentary on any project.  Thank you John – it was a pleasure to work with you.”

Here’s what we created for Geraldine:

  • Creating a rich picture of the Institute of Asphalt Technology’s new 5 year vision #visualthinking

    IAT Vision 2016 Small

Recently, Crackerjack Visual Thinking has been working with the Institute of Asphalt Technology (IAT) to visualise their new 5 year vision. The aim of the project was to create a rich picture that engages, informs and drives conversation about the IATs new vision amongst its members, other institutes and the wider industry. To create the rich picture (shown above), we used the following process:

STEP 1: We reviewed a written version of the vision consisting of a number of bullet points against each of the key elements of the new vision. We then asked clarifying questions to ensure we fully understood the new vision and how it would be used by the IAT.

STEP 2: We created an initial version of the vision rich picture and then worked closely with key stakeholders from the IAT (including its President Geraldine Walsh) to further develop the graphic.

STEP 3: The IAT vision rich picture was then shared with the IAT Executive Committee for approval. We were very pleased to hear that the committee were extremely positive in their comments about the rich picture and only minor amendments were required before the rich picture was officially signed-off.

STEP 4: The new IAT vision rich picture was launched at the IATs 50th Anniversary Conference which took place in June 2016. Crackerjack also provided live-scribing/graphic recording on the day of the conference to capture key themes and outputs from the event as they happened:

The IAT vision rich picture will now be shared both electronically and in printed format in IAT publications. It will form the basis of discussions about what the IAT does, what the result of its strategy will be and the impact this will have in the wider world.

After the conference Geraldine Walsh, President of the IAT provided the following feedback:

“John of Crackerjack Visual Thinking was employed by the Institute of Asphalt Technology to create both a rich picture of our new vision and a graphic recording of our 50thanniversary conference. It is evident from the quality of his work that he has a true talent not only in terms of creating  the actual artwork itself but also in terms of listening, understanding and interpreting our requirements. His work is outstanding on many levels. Never before have I received such positive commentary on any project.  Thank you John – it was a pleasure to work with you.”

We were extremely pleased to have this testimonial from Geraldine about our work.

House of Fraser L&D team develop their scribbling skills! #visualthinking

I spent half a day yesterday running a bespoke version of Scribble Lab 1™ with 12 members of the House of Fraser learning and development (L&D) team.

HoF 25th May 2016 Scribble Lab Pic 1 SMALL

The team is keen to incorporate visual thinking approaches into their work and the workshop helped them begin to develop the core drawing skills needed to do this.

Developing these core drawing skills will enable them to feel confident in creating images to communicate information and drive conversation during the design and delivery phases of their work across multiple learning channels.

HoF 25th May 2016 Scribble Lab Pic 2 SMALL

At the end of the session, the session participants were all able to identify immediate ways in which they could incorporate the skills learnt during the Scribble Lab into their current and future work.

  • Sneaky Peak! #visualthinking

    Sneaky Peak! #visualthinking

Just thought I’d share a few small elements of a much larger rich picture I’m creating for a client to help them communicate their new vision and engage their target audience in their work.

    Sneaky Peak-01 copy

The staring point for the rich picture was a powerpoint presentation containing outline bullet points for each element of the new vision. I then worked with the client to really understand and explore the vision and identify the real-life impact this would have on their target audience.

From this exploration I’ve been able to create a rich picture that visually shows how their vision will enable their target audience to make a real impact to the lives of the general public.

I’m hoping to be able to share the whole graphic with you in June once it’s been launched at the organisations annual conference (where I’m also creating a live graphic recording of the key themes, thoughts and ideas emerging from the event).
