  • Great feedback from Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust about the ‘Transforming Care for the Future’ rich picture created by Crackerjack Visual Thinking #engage #communicate

Very pleased to be able to share feedback we’ve received from Mark Lindsay, Assistant Director of Strategy, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, in relation to the ‘Transforming Care for the Future’ rich picture we created for use across the organisation:

John from Crackerjack Visual Thinking was commissioned to create a rich picture depicting our strategy. In doing so he engaged with the team, not only offering suggestions, but importantly he listened to what we felt was important. He then seamlessly weaved this into the working document in a very timely manner.

He was very quick to respond and worked flexibly in terms of time and method of communication. We found that most of the work could be carried out over the telephone or email, but when we requested that he visit us, John didn’t hesitate to make the long journey.

He was happy to amend the work until we were completely satisfied with the result – which we were. If you are looking to depict your message through a rich picture, then John comes highly recommended!”

Hand-drawn animation used to visualise #goodhydration key messages for Oxford Patient Safety #communicate #engage #NHS

Crackerjack recently spent some time with Oxford Medical Illustration (@OMINHS) to develop six short videos for Oxford Patient Safety featuring our hand-drawn animations on the theme of ensuring elderly patients receive good hydration throughout their time in care and rehabilitation.

    Good Hydration Animation

The benefits of good hydration are well researched and documented and the video provides an overview of the key ways in which patient hydration can be encouraged and integrated into patients daily care routines.

Hand-drawn animation provides another method of reinforcing key messages in a way that is memorable and engages the audience. To find out more, please CONTACT US

  • High Performing Hospital rich picture created for Manchester University Hospitals #NHS Foundation Trust #visualthinking #MFTnhs

Crackerjack Visual Thinking is pleased to be able to share a rich picture we created for Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MUH) earlier this year. The image was created to drive discussion and understanding across the organisation of what a high-performing hospital (sometimes referred to as a model hospital) looks like.

Helen Farrington, Associate Director of OD and Training at MUH, comments:

“John from Crackerjack has the amazing ability to make sense of complex information and translate a concept into something that is creative, meaningful and has impact! Creating our ‘rich picture’ required incorporating a diverse range of views and opinions- never easy – but John was patient and flexible and as a result we have something that has wide appeal and application.”

Crackerjack is currently developing a number of other rich pictures for MUH.

  • Great client feedback about one of our recent graphic recordings! #communicate #engage #visualthinking

    “Hello John,

I got the graphic recording. It looks fantastic, thank you so much. We are going to get a nice big printout of this and put it up on the main corridor. I am still amazed by the level of clarity you pick up in what you have heard – it is amazing!”

  • Great feedback about our #Quality #Improvement Toolkit from Oxford University Hospitals #NHS #engage #communicate

Earlier this year, Crackerjack was commissioned by Belinda Boulton (Director of Transformation for Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) to design and produce an on-line interactive service improvement guide for her organisation.

The ‘Oxford Quality Improvement Toolkit’ brings together numerous quality improvement tools, templates and techniques into one simple to use practical guide that is accessible across all platforms and devices including laptops, tablets and smartphones.

The toolkit is designed to support anyone (from front-line staff to senior management) who wants to make an improvement in their part of the organisation, whether that’s making a change to a single patient process through to managing a major change programme across a team or department.

We were extremely pleased to receive the following feedback from Belinda on completion of the work:

“We knew what service improvement information we wanted to convey. However, we weren’t sure about how to present that information in such a way as to engage our colleagues and enthuse them in relation to our service improvement goals. John Ashton from Crackerjack Visual Thinking listened to our ideas and explored with us the nature of our audience and what would give them an affinity with the ‘Toolkit’. John helped us to bring our ideas to life in the form of an interactive ‘Oxford Quality Improvement Toolkit’, an on-line guide which brings service improvement tools to life. The work was delivered to time frames and exceeded our expectations.  We are looking forward to working with John in the future on other projects.”

  • Helping the NHS transform using visual thinking #engage #communicate #NHS

In the news the NHS is never far from the headlines. ‘7 Day Working’, ‘Improving Quality’, ‘Focussing on Prevention’ and ‘Better Use of Technology’ are often mentioned and form key parts of the NHS 5 Year Forward View. This builds upon 15 years of improvement in the NHS and provides a broad consensus on what a better future for the NHS should be.

    nhs-examples

Over the last couple of years Crackerjack has been working with a number of NHS Foundation Trusts (Oxford Health Foundation Trust, Solent NHS Foundation Trust and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) as they work on finding ways to implement the ideas and initiatives contained in the 5 Year Forward View. It’s pleasing to see that visual thinking approaches are playing a part in helping NHS Foundation Trusts in this important work. We’ve been involved in the following work to date:

    • Designing and developing an interactive on-line ‘Improvement Guide’ for Oxford Health Foundation Trust.
    • Creating a rich picture showing Solent NHS Foundation Trusts new vision.
    • Designing and creating an interactive on-line ‘7 Day Services Guide’ for Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
    • Graphic recording a number of strategy and engagement events for both Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
    • Designing a graphically facilitated ‘Making Every Contact Count’ engagement session for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.
    • Running a graphic skills workshop for the Oxford Health Improvement and Innovation Team.
    • Designing and creating an interactive on-line ‘Oxford Quality Improvement Toolkit’ for Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The tools and approaches we’ve created all have a single goal: to engage people and provide them with the information they need in the most accessible, informative and relevant way possible. Using visual thinking principles in all of our work enables Crackerjack to achieve this goal.
